Dragonfly Dreams Bee Card from Stampin’ Up!

This weeks challenge at the Global Design Project is to make a card featuring a winged creature! I love bumble bees. I fell in love with this chubby little chap as soon as I saw the Dragonfly dreams stamp set.

Dragonfly Dreams Bee Card

Isn’t the bee beeautiful?  I stamped onto watercolour paper which was cut out with our stitched framelit dies (which are still available but not in a catalogue, click the link in the items used at the bottom of this post if you wish to order) which I love as you get three shapes of dies in 3 sizes for each shape and 12 dies in total.

I then coloured with our marker pens and a blender pen and outlined him with a sahara sand marker.  The card base is made from Kraft cardstock and I stamped the bee in black ink.  It looks so striking on the kraft background.

I then finished it off with our gorgeous burlap ribbon and linen thread.

We would love you to play along this week at the Global Design Project and made something using the challenge outlined below.  Pop on over to the Global Design Project to see what the other design team members have made and also see the instructions on how to play along.

Dragonfly Dreams – Bumble Bee Cards

Dragonfly Dreams is a beautiful stamp set but its not all about dragonflies!  There is one cute chubby little bumble bee image in there too and the sentiments are lovely!

Dragonfly Dreams Bee Happy

I made this super simply card using our bundle bee stamp and cut it out and lightly coloured the wings with grey ink and the body with crushed curry and a blender pen.   A little line of dots and a cute sentiment was all that was needed to finish this simple card off,

Our little bee friend is raised on a dimensional.

Endless Thanks from Stampin’ Up!

Following on from my card yesterday for the InKing Royalty blog hop I have another card made using the same style using the Endless Thanks stamp set (one of my favourite stamp sets).  I love the clean style of this card and the white space make the flower stamps pop.

Endless Thanks raised greeting card

The hello sentiment is cut from Hello You Thinlit dies.  I cut three lots of smoky slate ‘hello’ words and one in white and glued them together to create height and dimension.

Endless Thanks Close Up

I finished off the flowers with enamel dots.

Hey Chick stamps free during Sale-a-bration

Thanks for popping by today.  I am sharing a card I made for a colour challenge with the Global Design Project using the Hey Chick stamp set which is free during our amazing offer Sale-a-bration.

Hey Chick free during Sale-a-bration

Love this crazy looking chicken and I created the chick wire back ground by using our Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder and Inking one side of the folder with black ink so that it stamped and embossed the design in swipe through the big shot.

I then punched out a circle of cardstock and then cut into the circle to create the opening for the chicken.

Hey chick free during saleabration

I then grunged up the edges and inked the edges with a sponge and the Basic Grey Ink.  The chicken itself was stamped on whisper white and coloured using our wonderful watercolour pencils and a blender pen.

As I mentioned this week at the Global Design Project it is a colour challenge and these are the colours you can use to make your own project and share with us to be in with a chance of being the weekly winner and being a guest designer.

Penned and Painted for Technique 101 Blog Hop

Techniques 101 Monthly Blog HopThis month we are creating a faux frame for the Technique 101 Blog Hop.  I used the Penned and Painted stamp set from Stampin Up for the flowers and leaves.

Penned & Painted from Stampin Up

I created my frame using a square of thick cardstock.  You can use a punch or a die to create the square or you can simply cut a square of your chosen size using a paper trimmer.

I cut a square using the stitched framelits which measure approx 4.2cm x 4.2cm. I cut three so I could place them evenly on my card and work out placement.

Whatever square size you choose make sure that three will fit in your card size and leave a gap around the outside of each square.

I stamped three flowers and leaves from Penned & Painted  on the right hand side of the whisper white cardstock in Black Stazon Ink.

I used the matching stamps to colour the slower using Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink.  I also used some of my new watercolour pencils to colour the flower and the flower centre.  The leaves were stamped in Mint Macaroon Ink.

I then laid the squares in place with removable adhesive and drew a line around the edge of the square.  I used a piece of washi tape to make sure that my squares were straight.  Don’t draw a line through any of the flower or leaf, simply skip that part of the line.

I  sponged around the edge of the squares with soft sky ink to make the white square with the flower inside ‘pop’ against the background. And then finished off the card with a carefully chosen sentiment which fits perfectly.
