Stampin’ Up Snips – free gift for ordering with me!

I posted out my free gifts to my customers this week who ordered online with me in April.  Each person received a hand made card and a free gift, this month it was a pair of brand new paper snip scissors from Stampin’ Up just for placing an online order!

Eastern Palace Suite from Stampin Up

These wonderful scissors are every crafters must have tool and I have a pair for use with paper/card and another pair with a little ribbon tied to the handle and these are only to be used to cut ribbon.

As all crafter know using ribbon scissors is a punishable offence!  And if its your husband who uses his ribbon scissors for cutting anything other than ribbon (including toe nails) then let him know it is grounds for divorce!

Mixed Drinks from Stampin’ Up!

I have been playing with my Mixed Drinks Stamp set and have made some really simple cards.

I love the champagne glasses and I added some sparkle using the heat and stick powder and the dazzling diamonds glitter and a versamark pen.

Mixed Drinks Champagne Card

I used the same card style for lots of drinks and loved how they turned out!  I especially love the beer one, a perfect male card.

Once I started I could not stop 🙂

I adore the sentiment ‘Friends don’t let friends wine alone’.  Lots of friends I could give that to!

So I hope I have inspired you to reach for this set and get crafting as it is so easy to get a good result and with so many stamps there are so many options.

Don’t forget that we only have 9 more days of saleabration so that means something free with every £45 you spend and there were more free options added yesterday, check out my blog post to see the saleabration offering.

Technique 101 – Masking

Techniques 101 Monthly Blog Hop

This months blog hop with the Technique 101 we are sharing cards we have made using the masking technique.  Masking is a simple technique were you just cover an area and stamp over the top but without overlapping the ink.  I had so much fun making this cute card using the Snow Day stamp set from Stampin Up.

Isn’t it cute!  I stamped onto whisper white cardstock using basic black ink and coloured the beaks in with a Pumpkin Pie marker.

First I stamped the penguin onto a stack of 3 post it notes making sure that the top of the penguins head was at the top part of the post it note and therefore sticky underneath.

Cut around tightly to the edges of the stamped image, then peel the layers apart to use as three separate masks.

Stamp your first row of penguins along the bottom of the white cardstock and then lay the masks over the top ready to stamp the next row.

Keep stamping and masking all the way to the top of the cardstock.  It looks better if the heads of the top penguins do not exceed the top of the cardstock.

Stamp some of the penguins at a jaunty angle for extra fun and whimsy!

Once the whole piece of whisper white has been stamped, stamp your hat and cut out (I added red glitter embossing powder to the hat to add some dimension and sparkle). Stick in place on one penguin, experiment with placement to see where the hat looks best!

Colour in the beaks and layer up the rest of the card.  Pretty simple and minimal supplies but so effective.  One of my fave cards!
