Jar of Love from Stampin’ Up for #GDP082

I am using my favourite set today, Jar of Love.  I simply adore it and I hear it is carrying over into the new catalogue so that is a whole another year to share ideas and inspiration using this set.  This week at the Global Design Project we have a sketch challenge.
Jar of Love for Global Design ProjectMy card is made using heavy weight whisper white cardstock and has no layers, I simply masked a line on the card front and stamped the two separate areas of the card separately.

I used the Diagonal Stripe background stamp to create the stripes in Pink Pirouette Ink and then stamped the flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set using Flirty Flamingo ink.  I stamped the flower off first to create a lighter shade for the whole flower then stamped the flower centre using the Flirty Flamingo ink without stamping off first.

I filled the gaps with the leaves and hearts using versa mark and heat embossed in Silver Embossing powder.

I added a sliver glimmer paper strip down the card to separate the two stamping styles.
I stamped the sentiment from Suite Sentiments in the seasonal catalogue using versa mark ink and heat embossed in silver too.  I used the label framelits to cut out the greeting and simply stuck it in place with dimensionals.

Technique 101 – Sponging

Techniques 101 Monthly Blog Hop

In this months blog hop with the Technique 101 we are sharing cards with sponging on them.  Any sponging goes and I am sure that the design team will be sharing lots of ideas on how to get some great effects with your sponges and daubers.

Sponging using Weather Together from Stampin Up

I cut out a rectangle using my paper trimmer and photocopy paper.  I used photocopy paper as it is thin and when I sponge over the edge of the cut paper the sponge passes smoothly over it to create a nice crisp sponged line.

By using photocopy paper you can also position the rectangle on your card front and see it is lined up correctly.

I then used Marina Mist Ink and a large sponge and tapped the sponge into the ink and dabbed it off onto the grid paper behind before sponging.  Take your time, I move in a circular motion with my sponge and be sure not to let your mask slip.

Once you are happy with your sponged panel, I stamped the umbrella stamp from Weather Together in Black Ink.  I then stamped the umbrella again and cut it out so add some dimension.  I simply coloured the handle with a night of navy marker pen and added some flowers and pearls from the stamp set.

This stamp set comes with a set of dies but I did not use them for this card, I hand cut the elements.

So now it is time to pop on over to Frenchie’s blog to see what she has made using sponging.

Penned & Painted from Stampin’ Up!

I am sharing a card for the Global Design Project colour challenge this week.  I have used Penned & Painted and Sending Thoughts.  The words and fonts in the the sending thoughts stamp set are beautiful and just perfect for someone who need to know that you are there for them.
Penned & Painted from Stampin Up

Isn’t the shading in the Penned & Painted stamp set pretty?  It is just two individual stamps and I have used the same colour ink and stamped it off onto scratch/rough paper for the whole flower to get a lighter tone and then stamped the Crushed Curry shaded centre without stamping off first.

Penned & Painted from Stampin Up

I stamped the centre with Night of Navy ink and added some rhinestones and love how the flowers add some dimension.
I absolutely love the rest of the sentiment for the inside of the card and the curly whimsical font.
Sending Thoughts from Stampin UpSo are you considering joining this weeks colour challenge as you can make it your own by adding your own colour.
#GDP081It looks like I used black but I did use Night of Navy, Whisper White and Crushed Curry, navy and yellow a lovely combo!

Delicate Details from Stampin’ Up! free during saleabration

There are only two more days of saleabration.  That means its your last chance to get the Delicate Details stamp set for FREE when you place an order for £45 or more.

I love the delicate lace stamps in this set and love how easily you can create a background.  I heat embossed the Delicate Details stamp using white embossing powder onto a small mounted rectangle.

Delicate Details from Stampin Up free during saleabration

You can mount all the lace stamps onto a large clear block at the same time and ink up and stamp in one or two strokes to save using loads of blocks.

I stamped the with sympathy sentiment from the Better Together stamp set onto vellum and heat embossed in white and wrapped around the lace stamped panel.

I wanted to add a pop of colour so chose the Crushed Curry Ink and stamped a flower from Flower Shop and punched around it using the matching Pansy Punch.

A final flourish was added with the Falling in Love embellishments.

I really hope you give this card a try yourselves, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

High Tide from Stampin Up for #GDP080

I wanted to get my High Tide Stamp set inky for this weeks Global Design Project entry.  It is a case the designer week and we are casing Louise Sharp.  Louise is a super talented crafter who lies in Australia and is on the Stampin Up Artisan Design Team. I simply love her style and you must pop over to her blog.

High Tide from Stampin Up

I decided that the High Tide set needed a little grunging and totally she went for it with my sponge and timeless textures.

I inked the background onto very vanilla cardstock and sponged the sky with Pool Party and Marina Mist and then inked the edge with Smoky Slate around the edge.

I stamped the lighthouse in Dapper Denim Ink and added the shadow for the lighthouse with Basic Grey Ink.  The sea was stamped in Marina Mist and Mint Macaroon Ink.

High Tide from Stampin Up

I cut a 2″ wide rectangle to make a tag and added a dapper denim circle and punched a hole in the centre and tied linen and gold thread through the hole.

I added a rectangle of gold foil cardstock as a mount to the card and then added it to a Pool Party card base.

So let me show you Louise’s original card which we are casing this week.
