So the week before my first craft day event I had this idea that it would be lovely to have a little fabric cube to hold all the basic supplies that my guests would need to make their projects. I originally saw the idea on Pinterest (don't get me started…..) and knew I had to give it a try. The very clever Tanya Bell from Australia made this one, see a close up on Tina's blog.
So I am challenged in the sewing department, so much so that I even ask my husband to sew on buttons!! I can sew and have made things in the past but have realised my strengths and asked my lovely friend and neighbour if she would rustle some of the storage cubes for me. Sarah my neighbour is a real home maker and lives the good life, making jams and chutneys, sewing and quilting and organic gardening. She has a blog here and I am so grateful that she made these little beauties for me in a morning. Of course I thanked her with free ribbons, patterned paper and the use of my stamps and stash whenever she wishes and this is how they turned out…..
These are made from Spice Cake and Flirtatious Fabric and…..
these two are made with the Timeless Portrait and Deck the Halls fabric, all cost £8.95 and in each pack you will receive three pieces in co-ordinating patterns approx 68 x 45cm in size.
As you can see Sarah added some pockets for holding the tools and I asked her to add some cardboard in between the fabric to add some ridigity and to stop the tote from falling over if there were heavy things inside.
The clever thing is that they were made with the scallop square die which costs £18.95 and is exclusive to Stampin' Up! And it is so well designed for use with fabrics that the die itself is clear in the centre so you can get an accurate placement on your fabric….
And this is what it looked like on the table at the craft day.
So check back with me in a day or two for more photo's of the craft day and to see what we made….
This last post did not load correctly and I am struggling to remember everything I posted last time and I have a hot bath calling me……………..
