This is another idea I had rumbling around in my head since seeing this on pinterest by Chris Twing. I have been looking for weeks for the right chocolate to put inside the box and finally found this skeleton lollipop (I think from M&S) which would act as the grisly contents of the coffin…..
It was pretty easy to make and as you know I do everything by eye and I knew I wanted to use the Apothecary accents die for the headstone so just tailored the coffin to fit around the die. The sentiment from Halloween Bash worked perfectly and I heat embossed it with black powder to make it stand out from the basic grey cardstock. I had a great time distressing the cardstock using gorgeous grunge and off the grid and inked the edges to make it look old.
I made the tray for the skeleton and then wrapped a cardstock sleeve around the box, Chris has some instructions on her blog if you need measurements to make something similar. And I was dying to use the bat from Halloween Hello and had some black glitter which added some texture and sparkle to the project.
I hand cut around the bats, I know! I hate hand cutting but I thought I could manage two bats and stuck one with a double layer of dimensionals and the other bat is mounted onto wire which hopefully gives the illusion that he is flying and not attached :0)
The coffin looked too bare so I cut some little leaves from the little leaves sizzlit in Always artichoke cardstock, inked the edges and stuck them randomly to the coffin.
This would be a great half term activity with the kids and all the supplies can be purchased from my online shop and be delivered direct in time for Halloween.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, as its half term for my kids next week, I'm so looking forward to some lazy mornings x
