Sketch challenge using World of Dreams from Stampin Up

July 9, 2014 By Michelle Last

Good morning!  Hope everything is tip top in your world.

World of dreams by Stampin UpI have had an idea to use the hardwood stamp as a picture frame for a while now and decided that this sketch was perfect as it made me think of a picture frame hanging on the wall so I set to work to make the frame.  I stamped soft suede ink using the Hardwood stamp onto crumb cake cardstock. To be honest it was rather a hurried attempt and I think I could have engineered the frame a little better so don’t look too closely!

I stamped the branch and birds onto whisper white once I had coloured the stamp in using crumb cake, soft suede and chocolate chip marker pens.  I then coloured the leaves using a versamark marker and heat embossed the leaves in gold embossing powder.  I used a piece of DSP from the new Lullaby designer series paper and stamped the greeting on the front and inside using the Bravo photopolymer stamp set and Early Espresso Ink.

SB63 stamping&blogging sketch
Perhaps I should look a little closer, I only just saw the ‘stamp the background’ instruction on the sketch – aaarggghhh!!!

Here is the inside…..

world-of-dreams-stampin Up card It seems I need a little practice with my new photopolymer set as its a bit wobbly, I think I pressed too hard! On the bright side, would be perfect for a slime or Halloween effect ;0)

And here it is close up….

gold embossed world of dreams
I made the 6×6″ card blank using the new kraft cardstock, it is a lovely heavy weight cardstock in the same colour as the boxes Stampin Up sell, so perfect when a more sturdy card is needed.  I cannot wait to have more time to play with the World of Dreams set from Stampin’ Up!

So why not pop on over to the wonderful design team and see if they followed the sketch more closely than I did!!

Today is my sons 18th Birthday.  Dom is off shortly to Barcelona with 7 of his friends to party in style.  I cannot believe it was 18 years ago today that I welcomed this little bundle into our lives.  It is one of my proudest moments and I am blessed and honoured to call him my son.

I so enjoy your blog, it always makes me smile and feel inspired. Where does the time go with our children? They grow so fast and at my house very very tall! My eldest lad of 16 is 6’5″ It’s quite hilarious chastising someone who is that tall lol Cheers Donna Z 🙂
