I am sharing a Birthday card today using the gorgeous Birthday Blooms stamp set. The whole Birthday Blooms product suite was an instant favourite the moment I set my eyes on it! I adore the patterned paper, the stamps and the accessories too!
For this weeks Global Design Project Challenge we have been inspired by a card from one of my card making heroes Connie Collins. I turned to the Birthday Blooms as I had not had a chance to have a really good play with it but had seen so many lovely samples so this is my card….
I used watercolour paper and coloured the leaves in Mint Macaroon and the flower with Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo using an aqua painter. I embossed the flower image with white embossing powder to contain the ink within the lines. I used a technique which you may have seen me use before on the Sky’s the Limit card where I die cut the circle and partially hand cut the overlapping parts so that they were not cut by the die cut. I will do a video someday soon, I am just always chasing my tail and there are never enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do.
The sentiment lacked pizzazz so I stamped part of it on to black card stock and embossed it in white and cut around it. The last flourish were some rhinestones colour with a black sharpie marker and a wave of new wink of stella pen to add some sparkle to my flower.
We would love you to join us this week and make something using Connie’s card for inspiration –

Beautiful card Michelle. I wouldn’t have thought of using the partial die cut technique with such a detailed image but you’ve convinced me it works wonderfully! 🙂 x
thanks Tracy, this was little more fiddly that the bi-plane but it still worked 🙂 x
Gorgeous card Michelle. These are some of my favourite colours and teamed with black – Wow! I love how you did a partial die cut on the flower. Can’t wait to see the video (no pressure!). xoxo
I said it outloud didn’t I? So I will do it, just hang in there with me x
Amazingly soft and sweet, Michelle. What a gorgeous card! I know Connie will be thrilled with your CASE of her card.
Thank you Brian, that was hard to case such a pro x
Michelle…this card is lovely. I blue really pops on the black. I love how you stamped part of the sentiment on black and embossed it! BTW…you are one of my stamping heroes too! Hugs!
Sorry Connie, I knocked myself unconscious for a few days with your wonderful comment 🙂 x thank you x
Wow Michelle, this is such a beautiful card. Love the partial die cut as well as part of the sentiment embossed onto black card stock, very stylish. Can’t wait for the video either, wink, wink, definitely no pressure at all! Cheers Donna Z 🙂
Please can you send me a few spare hours Denita 😉
Simply beautiful. I just love how you die cut this image from the circle.
Love your water coloring and you’d better that video going. I’m dying to see how you partially cut on a circle like this. The result is amazing.
Oh the pressure Shawn 🙂
Your card makes my heart happy and is so professionally made! Thanks for the white on black idea for part of the sentiment ^_^
So beautiful Michelle. The black rhinestones look amazing! D x
