I absolutely love the colours for the Global Design Project colour challenge this week!
In fact I love them so much that they are the colours of my lounge.
I actually made two cards this week and could not choose between the two…. I’ll let you decide on which one you prefer.
I created a graduated background using three yellow ink colours. I then stamped the lovely lupin style flower onto the watercolour paper in versarmark and embossed in white embossing powder.
I added the border and the sentiment using Basic Grey Ink and then coloured the petals using an aqua painter and whisper white ink. For the more intense white colouring I picked up the white ink directly from the ink refill.
I added a couple of vellum butterflies and rhinestones and it was complete.
You may be wondering how I created the background, well I plan to do a periscope video on Monday 29th Feb at 8.45pm. Apologies if any of you are proposing to your loved ones at that time 🙂 thankfully the periscope video is saved for 24 hours so you can watch it later.
What is Periscope I hear you ask? Periscope is a live video broadcast from your phone so you can see live how I created this background and comment and share whilst I am recording so you can ask questions etc.
You have to download the Periscope app and follow me @michellelast. If you sign up and follow me you will be notified that my video is going LIVE and you will be able to comment and ask questions live on the broadcast.
I will also be sharing how I made these butterflies on the next card…
The cool thing about this card is that the butterflies are on the inside of the card, so when you open it…..
they stay on the background – cool huh? Can you see the colours of the butterflies are graduated too?
I love the dimension from the wings of the butterflies –
So now its time to see what the other design team members have made using the same colour challenge. I have had a sneak peek and you are going to be blown away! Go to www.Global-Design-Project.com to be inspired and also take part in this weeks challenge.
Below is a list of the supplies I used to make both cards, simply click the images below to go direct to my online shop to order 24/7. If your order is £20+ please enter the monthly hostess code (if it is less than £150+) and if it is £45+ you can choose a sale-a-bration item too!
SO happy 29th Feb, we won’t see another one of these for quite some time!
Wow love the colour scheme totally. I love both cards too but if pressed I think the second one with the 3 Daff Delight Butterflies slightly edges ahead for me. The Butterflies are so striking against the grey and I love that they are on the inside of the card!! xx
Love them both❣
I really like how you made both cards. The second card is you change and use many ways

We are so lucky you couldn’t decide which card to post. Double the inspiration for us! I can’t decide which I like better either. The butterflies are amazing and I love the watercolor background too. Thanks for showing us how you did it on Periscope today.
I will have you know that I signed up for Periscope just to watch you work! While I like the butterfly card, I am totally in love with the watercolour one and just had to watch it being made! Now I have finished work, I am off to watch!
That card is beautiful I love the yellow with the basic gray and the smoky slate I got to try using those colors together .. Tfs .. Love your blog …..Anne
Such beautiful projects, Michelle! I love the watercoloring on the first – just delicious.
Wow. Love this. Your water coloring is amazing. I’ve tried and tried to watercolor, but no luck at all.
The butterflies on your second project are great too. Love how you attached them. Totally different from what I’ve seen before.
TFS!
Both cards are wonderful Michelle … the first is my favourite, I love the watercolour background with the stamped frame. That made my fingers itch to get creating! xx
