I treated myself to a new stamp set from Stampin Up called Penned & Painted. I like its two step stamping style and that the flowers were realistic.
This week at the Global Design Project we have a colour challenge using Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight. My first thought was floral as I can use those three colours on flowers and leaves.
It is a one later card and originally I wanted to create some dimension but it really did not need it. The colours popped enough and the inked smoky slate background really makes the flowers pop from the card.
I stamped the flowers, leaves and sentiment in Black Stazon and using an aquapainter I coloured the flowers with Flirty Flamingo Ink and the leaves with Pear Pizzazz. I did not use the stamp to fill in the flowers. I then added flirty flamingo with the stampin write markers to the centre of the flowers to create some depth and shading and then coloured the centres with a Daffodil Delight marker I got a deeper hue by simply colouring the area several times. I did over stamp the leaf with the stamp to accent the middle with Pear Pizzazz Ink.
Finally I used a sponge brayer and a sponge to add Smoky Slate Ink around the edge of the card and around the flowers avoiding the sentiment.
I did feel a little bit of a fraud as this card so was quick and simple to make but decided not to add anything else as I did not think it needed it.
I love these challenges so much as they really stretch me and I tend to create something I would have never come up with on my own. Why don’t you give it a try and join us this week. Simply pop on over to the Global Design Project to upload your project and be in with a chance of being crowned one of the weekly winners and also one outright winner will be a guest stamper on our next colour challenge!
