This week at the Global Design Project we have a theme and that theme is to make a card with trees in it! It was so easy for me to choose which stamp set to use, the iconic Lovely as a Tree from Stampin’ Up! It is the only stamp that has been in the annual catalogue every UK catalogue since we launched back in 2009. A true classic and so versatile as you will see in a moment.
I saw a beautiful card made by Kim Jolley and she has kindly shared the tutorial her blog so please pop on over to see how to make this style of card which she calls Foolproof Watercolor.
As you can see I loved it so much I made three! They really are quick to rustle up and so effective. Which one is your favourite?
I used the single tree stamp for the card below and embossed the tree with gold embossing powder.
On the card below I used the stamp from Lovely as a tree (the one with several trees) and embossed it in white and staggered the trees off into the bottom left corner and I also used the splatter dots stamp from Timeless Textures to look like snow.
On the last card below I stamped the row of trees once and embossed in gold. We made this card at a class this week and the ladies loved it!
I also stamped the grungy stamp around the card base in smoky slate ink onto Basic Grey Card. Why don’t you give it a go and join the Global Design Project trees themed challenge? Pop on over to the Global Design Project to see what the other lovely design team members have made using the same theme and add your entry, you have until Sunday 25th to enter!

Wow, Michelle! I love these beautiful tree scenes you created…I just can’t pic a favourite! I love them ALL! 🙂
Michelle…you executed the technique perfectly! I love everyone of them. Thank you so much for giving me a “shout out”.
The varying colors of the tree lines look very surreal! It makes me want to stare at it a while! Merry Christmas!
