This week at the Global Design Challenge we are sharing a colour challenge. I used the Lovely as a Tree set of stamps and the Gorgeous Grunge to create this beautiful card which I cased from Birgit Edblom. I was daunted at first when I saw the colours shared but it is wonderful to get creative with a colour palette that you would not normally use and you can add your own colour to make the palette your own. I fell in love with Birgit which is why I pinned it and when I was stumped at what to create, I had a quick scroll through Pinterest and then knew right away I wanted to try to re-create this card using Stampin Up Stamps.
I created a mask with a torn piece of photocopy paper and stamped the trees in StazOn onto watercolour paper. I then used the daubers to ink in delightful dijon making sure that the colour was more intense at the horizon line. I kept adding colour until I was happy with the intensity but I did not use any other yellow ink. I made sure I left a border around the outside of the image.
I then inked in smoky slate under the horizon line and then gently added a light touch of the delightful dijon to act as a reflection. It needed something else so I added a black definition along the horizon line with an aqua painter using memento black ink and then put the mask back in place and stamped the short edge of the lines stamp from Gorgeous Grunge to add vertical lines which just made it perfect!
The sentiment is from Places You’ll Go which I heat embossed in silver embossing powder. The last touch were the stunning urban underground embellishments. They are self adhesive backed so I simply positioned them in all 4 corners and stuck in place! The card itself is a small square card measuring 10.5 x 10.5cm.
So who is joining me this week? Here is the colour challenge and I really encourage you to pop over to the Global Design Project to see what beautiful creations they have made with the same colour palette and then join in this week, you would be a guest designer for our next colour challenge!
