Penned and Painted for Technique 101 Blog Hop

This month we are creating a faux frame for the Technique 101 Blog Hop.  I used the Penned and Painted stamp set from Stampin Up for the flowers and leaves.

I created my frame using a square of thick cardstock.  You can use a punch or a die to create the square or you can simply cut a square of your chosen size using a paper trimmer.

I cut a square using the stitched framelits which measure approx 4.2cm x 4.2cm. I cut three so I could place them evenly on my card and work out placement.

Whatever square size you choose make sure that three will fit in your card size and leave a gap around the outside of each square.

I stamped three flowers and leaves from Penned & Painted  on the right hand side of the whisper white cardstock in Black Stazon Ink.

I used the matching stamps to colour the slower using Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink.  I also used some of my new watercolour pencils to colour the flower and the flower centre.  The leaves were stamped in Mint Macaroon Ink.

I then laid the squares in place with removable adhesive and drew a line around the edge of the square.  I used a piece of washi tape to make sure that my squares were straight.  Don’t draw a line through any of the flower or leaf, simply skip that part of the line.

I  sponged around the edge of the squares with soft sky ink to make the white square with the flower inside ‘pop’ against the background. And then finished off the card with a carefully chosen sentiment which fits perfectly.
