I stamped a butterfly and was colouring it for another card I was making using the Beautiful Day stamp set and I had this scrap which I was able to cut out with the layering squares framelits.
I embossed a whisper white card base using the Layered Leaves Embossing folder and mounted a scallop square in Basic Gray and layered a smaller smoky slate square and then the stamped square.
It was a very happy accident that the die cut word ‘hugs’ from the Lovely Words Thinlits reached perfectly from side to side of the square frame (once I had snipped it out of its original frame).
The Butterfly was coloured with Stampin’ Blends in Pink Pirouette Light and Dark and Calypso Coral Light. I edged the wings with crumb cake light to add a little shadow.
Simple but effective and a great way to use up your scraps and who does not love butterflies?
