Today at Your Creative Connection we are deciding whether we should bling or not bling?

I think adding a rhinestone or two is a really simple way to elevate a handmade card. I reckon we should all have some bling in our stash but I know some people really don’t like it. So let’s compare the same card side by side to see which you prefer?

It is very subtle isn’t it but to me the card on the left was just missing something? Here is a bigger image to give you a better view of the Ornate Thanks card.

I like how you can see the dots in the centre of the flowers and I did add a subtle dab of ink with a sponge dauber in Bermuda Bay to create some contrast but it is still missing something to me.
I love the die cut detail on the edge of the card and the muted colour palette and the Tufted 3D Embossing folder added just the right amount of embossed detail on the card base. But it was just missing something…..

So I added some bling, not too much, I did consider adding it to the dotted edge of the Dark Grey die cut but it was way too much for my liking.

One of the hardest things to do is to add something and make it look random. I added the single rhinestones on the card base and that subtle detail really made a difference to me.

Another simple technique which can also elevate a card is heat embossing. I use it regularly on my cards and this time I embossed the ‘thanks’ in white and ‘ever so much’ in Silver.

So which do you prefer? Do you use bling? Have you tried our rhinestones? Ours are adhesive back, there are 140 in a pack and there are 3 sizes in each pack. 3mm, 4mm & 5mm, all for £4.75.

Very pretty cards. And I agree, the blinged one is just that bit more prettier. Love how you placed your bling!
Thank you Jenn, it has to be bling doesn’t it? x
absolutely gorgeous
Thank lovely Kim xx Miss you beautiful x
this should never be the question… bling, always bling <3
Julie, you made me chuckle this morning. Of course its a dumb question, bling is always the answer and glad I tempted you to the embossing folder and border punch 😉
p.s. I HAD no interest (zero) in this embossing folder or border punch… so thanks for that 🙂
Is that actually a question – ha! Bling of course…
I couldn’t agree more Marlene 😉
Definitely Bling Michele lovely card xx
Love your beautiful card Michelle. I sure am going to miss that Tufted embossing folder. It was a fave of mine. I am go for the bling as well 🙂
It is like make-up on women as long as you do not see the Bling before the main focus and the the Bling is just to enhance the “main focus”
Love that analogy 🙂
The Bling has IT!
With bling of course Michelle ;O)
Your cards are amazing!
With bling naturally cards are bare without it
I totally agree Pam x
