I have created a card and tried to make the cardstock look like faux fabric in a Cath Kidston style. I was totally inspired by the Fancy Phrases stamped set with its sketchy vintage design.
I had the idea in my head for a few days and when I found the time to sit down and start to create it didn’t go well! But I persevered and tried different colour combinations and slowly I began to fall in love with the results.
What I love about the Fancy Phrases stamp set is that the sketchy lines of the stamp show where to add a darker shade when colouring with your Alcohol Stampin’ Blends markers. For the card above I stamped the flower image in Smoky Slate ink and colour with Blends which gives a muted effect.
With the card shared above I used the Black Memento Ink Pad to stamp the flowers which gives more definition to the image. Totally personal preference on which you prefer.
This is one I have coloured (all stamped onto Whisper White Thick Cardstock) and then I have embossed the stamped and coloured piece with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder which adds texture and a more authentic fabric effect.
I have shared a video below on how to create this technique so feel free to take a moment to watch and create your own.
