I recently held a demo day for my team and we shared a fun filled day together crafting and eating cake! I designed three projects and I used my favourite Grassy Grove Bundle. For this project I created a slider card but I tweaked the sliding closure so that the inner piece comes out and you can see the gorgeous little die cut deer (shown below).

I love how the tree die cut is backed with vellum so you only get a hint of what is inside the slider card when it is closed.

There is a stamped deer in the Grassy Grove stamp set but I inked the die cut deers instead and simply love how they came out. How gorgeous would they look on a Christmas scene card?
I will talk you through the basic steps I took when stamping this card and I’ve shared a video below of a slider card I made while back if you want to make your own. The card was stamped differently in the video and the ribbon is attached differently to the card I share today but the fancy fold/slider card design is very similar. You can make whichever one you prefer.
Basic steps on how to make the Grassy Grove Slider Card
- Die cut your tree die cut in the front panel of the Kraft card
- Colour the tree foliage using Old Olive Ink and the tree trunks using Soft Suede ink with daubers or blending brushes
- Line the inside with vellum (behind the die cut)
- Ink the inner panel to mimic a sunset. I used Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight ink and blending brushes to create the graduated effect on the Sahara Sand cardstock
- Stamp the ground using Early Espresso ink with the stamp from the Grassy Grove stamp set.
- Die cut your two deers, the large deer in Soft Suede cardstock and the small deer in Sahara Sand cardstock.
- Using a sponge dauber add Soft Suede Ink shading to the mummy deers ears, neck, back and feet and also gently to the baby deers ears and back/bottom area.
- Use the black pen to add a black nose and eye on both deer.
- Dip the tip of the blender pen into the white ink pad and add white detail to the underside of the tail, the ears and dots to the bottom/back and neck area.
- Stick the deer to the inner panel and raise the baby deer up with dimensionals.
- Place ribbon around the Kraft inner card and stick the stamped Sahara Sand panel over the ribbon.
Video tutorial on how to make a slider card
Why not give it a try yourself? I love the Grassy Grove Bundle as I love a bundle with beautiful realistic trees in the stamp set but the dies really do take this bundle to the next level!

When I need a WOW card I always seem to find my way back to the slider card design. I filmed another tutorial way back in March 2013 – you can see the card I made with Established Elegance stamp set here.
I have listed the supplies I used to make my card which are all available from my online shop. Please use my monthly hostess code when shopping online with me and please get in touch if you need any help or have questions.
And if you make your own, please show me as I love seeing what you make.
