Have you seen the Alphabet a la mode dies? They are a beautiful alphabet die set that is so useful for every crafter and the slim font means you can spell out names and occasions with ease to add to the front of your projects.
Even though this is a fancy fold, the width of the card is slightly thinner than a standard card size and you can easily fit 4 letters from the alphabet dies if not more to spell out anything you wish. I did not know the name of the new baby who joined our family when I made this card, otherwise I would have die cut her name.
A new baby is such a special occasion and I still have the cards sent to my own children on their birth (26 and 24 years ago), so it’s good to make something extra special as a keepsake.
This unusual fold was created from one sheet of Sahara Sand cardstock which was cut to measure 15cm x 29.7cm and scored at 9.9cm intervals to create three separate panels. You then cut an angle piece of card off the length so that when you fold the panels and add designer series paper, each one is visible (as shown above).
You need to carefully consider which patterned paper you choose for each panel as some are visible from the front and some are not. Depending on what you add to each panel will determine the design as you won’t want to cover up an image.
I added patterned paper from the Happy Forest Friends DSP and Country Gingham DSP to all sides apart from the back panel. I could not resist adding one of my favourite quotes to the die cut piece from the Sentimental Park Dies. I printed the quote onto basic white cardstock and then die cut it out.
The alphabet die cut letters which spell BABY were die cut from a piece of foam adhesive sheet which I had layered a piece of patterned paper from the Country Gingham DSP stack. The foam adhesive sheets are like our dimensional sheets but without the hexagons cut out and have a peel-able layer top and bottom for sticking paper/card to and adhering to your project. I cut out some trees using the Happy Forest Dies in the same way to add more dimension to the trees.
